Civil Litigation: Business Torts

successful defense of local business from a suit to enforce a non-competition agreement

Jeff represented a small business which was being sued by a competitor to enforce a non-competition agreement unknowingly signed by one of its current employees. The agreement precluded the employee from working in his area of expertise anywhere in his hometown and would have required him to relocate outside Hampton Roads to find work. Plaintiff demanded a substantial from our client under threat of litigation. Jeff analyzed the plaintiff’s claims, found them to be without merit, and advised the client to refuse the offer. Thereafter, Jeff tried the case and won, resulting in a dismissal of the claim with prejudice; all while charging considerably less in legal fees than the amount initially demanded by the Plaintiff.
